Welcome
We welcome you to our Infectological Foundation for Children and Adolescents.
FINA was born more than thirty years ago, at a time when the AIDS pandemic was decimating the population. At that time, the diagnosis of said retrovirosis was difficult to face.
At the time, they were created in order to reverse this trend, but they focused on the wealthiest population strata, and the simplest ones to work on. That does not make them less important, but it left out the most vulnerable: the affected children and AIDS orphans.
Indeed, vertical transmission (sick mother to newborn) was really a death sentence for the latter, and the few who were born healthy were condemned to a social death.
Likewise, it became evident that facing the infectious problems of the younger populations had no chance of success if the epiphenomena that were around them were not simultaneously attacked; poverty, overcrowding, promiscuity, lack of drinking water, cultural, geographic and economic inaccessibility to healthcare centers, etc.
In that context, with few resources but with a strong will to serve, FINA was born.
AIDS has become endemic. At the same time, effective therapies have emerged to treat it. But – in the interim – new challenges have arisen; new nosological entities that must be faced without delay and with courage. And the cofactors and opportunisms mentioned above have not disappeared either, and that conspire against the health of the population. On the contrary, they have increased geometrically in number. This makes it essential for FINA to continue its incessant work.
To do this, he must have financial contributions to continue his work and other research, which can be easily understood by reading the following pages.
